This 1″ rabbet bit is used (along with a pair of 5 degree taper bits) for creating the original seat to leg joint on a Sam Maloof Style Rocking Chair. This bit is designed from the router bit that Sam Maloof had custom made by a small company in California that is no longer in business.
Please Note: This bit does not come with instructions. You will have to refer to other sources on how to construct the original seat to leg joint for a Sam Maloof style rocker using this bit and the 5 degree bits. These bits are NOT used when building from the Build a Sam Maloof Inspired Rocking Chair DVD, Book & Pattern set by Charles Brock.

About Whiteside
Whiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 in Bill Whiteside’s basement where he supplied tooling to NC’s huge furniture making industry. Whiteside is still family-owned but has now grown to occupy a 40,000 square foot factory in Claremont, NC.
Whiteside offers a full range of router bits. Their rigid quality control and precision manufacturing techniques have repeatedly resulted in highest ratings in Fine Woodworking magazine tool reviews.
In the years that we’ve sold Whiteside router bits, we’ve experienced the company’s commitment to excellent quality and superb customer service. We think you’ll be pleased each time you use these fine tools in your shop.
We toured the Whiteside factory in Episode 1 of The Highland Woodworker .Watch the whole episode or just the factory tour (about 6:30).
