Manual Wood Threader

These classic thread box & tap sets let you produce both screws and matching nuts in your favorite wood, so you can incorporate wooden fastening and tightening hardware into jigs, tools & toys.Operation is simplicity itself.Just buy or make a dowel in the species of your choice and lock it in a vise.Slip the thread box on the end and begin rotating clockwise to cut crisp, sharp threads.If the wood you’re using tends to tear, a thorough wipe with mineral oil will solve that problem. Matching taps come with an adjustable steel handle for easy tapping. Two taps come with each kit, one for starting/through cutting, the other a bottoming tap for blind holes. Both taps & die cutter are easily resharpened when needed. Threader body is made of plastic.

The manual wood threader works best in hard, closed-grained woods – like maple and cherry.

The indicated size of the manual wood threader is the size of dowel used to make the male threads.
