Gränsfors Bruk Axe Sharpening Stone
A round sharpening stone is the traditional tool for sharpening axes. Gränsfors stones have a coarse side for repairing nicks or serious dulling and a fine side for sharpening. They can be used dry, but work better with water. Stones come in a clever friction-fit rubber clamshell case; leave half the case on for a good secure grip as you hone.
The Natural Stone is made from sandstone quarried on the Swedish island of Gotland.Since it is a natural stone, the specific grit measurements for each side are not available.

The Ceramic Stone is man-made.The coarse side is 180 grit. The fine side is 600 grit and makes up approximately 2/3rds of the stone’s thickness.
