Veritas has merged modern materials and traditional design to create these well balanced, excellent cutting joinery saws. The 9-1/4” blade is made of high-carbon steel and has a spine of high-pressure injection molded resin. The resin backer uses stainless steel powder & glass fibers to keep the blade straight & true. Patterned from antique saws with elegantly curved handles, the saw’s hardwood handle nestles into your hand to give you exceptional cutting control. Its smooth cutting makes the Veritas Dovetail Saw another excellent saw for beginners and a versatile addition to any dovetail saw collection. Depth of cut is 1-9/16″. OAL is 14″.
Dovetail Saw
The standard Dovetail Saw has 14 rip cut teeth per inch (TPI) with a 14° rake angle, 0.003″ of set and a 60° included angle. It is best used with stock thicker than 1/2″.
Fine Cut Dovetail Saw
The Fine-Cut Dovetail Saw has 20 rip cut teeth per inch (TPI) with a 14° rake angle, 0.003″ of set and a 60° included angle. It is best used with stock 1/2″ and thinner.
Small Crosscut Saw
The Small Crosscut Saw has 16 teeth per inch (TPI) with a 15° rake & bevel angles and 0.003″ of set. The crosscut pattern teeth have alternating bevel to slice wood fibers cleanly when cutting across the grain. It will cut straighter and leave a much smoother finish in crosscuts than the dovetail saws. Use this saw when cutting tenon shoulders.
