The Morakniv Wooden Spoon Carving Set includes the Morakniv 106 Straight Carving knife and the Morakniv 164 Hook Knife. These two Swedish knives will let you begin carving wooden spoons, spatulas, spreaders, sporks, small bowls, shallow surface carvings and other general whittling and carving pursuits.
The 120 straight knife has a 9/16″ wide x 2-3/8″ long blade made from carbon steel. It has enough heft to do some rough work, while the tapered end of the blade allows for refining shapes and adding details. Overall length is 6-1/2″. It comes with a polymer sheath.
The curved blade on the 164 hook knife has about a 1/2″ radius and is sharpened on one edge. The single edge blade makes the hook knife easier for beginning carvers to manipulate with less risk of cutting oneself. Both versions can cut on the pull or push stroke. Typically right-handed carvers will use the right hand version and left-handed carvers will use the left hand version. Overall length is 6-1/4″.
Both knives have generously sized birch handles making them easy and comfortable to grip as you work.
