Lie-Nielsen  Scrub Plane 40-1/2

The scrub plane is used for dimensioning & truing rough-sawn lumber, with thick shavings aggressively taken diagonally across the grain for maximum effectiveness. Its narrow iron is ground convex for deep cuts without tearing at the edges, leaving characteristically scalloped surfaces that have become a hallmark of the hand-tool purist. Scrub planes are very efficient tools to use for the removal of large amounts of waste wood and for trimming stock. 10-1/4″ long, with cherry knob & handle. Plane body is cast ductile iron. 1-1/2″ wide iron is 3/16″ thick.
