The Iturra Design Spinner Bandsaw Tension Crank upgrades the blade tension adjusting knob on older Delta 14″ and Jet 14″ bandsaws.
The Spinner’s 4-7/8″ diameter handwheel with 3″ crank handle, coupled with the 3/8″ x 12 TPI Acme threaded rod (and mating 3/4″ thick brass tension nut), will enable you to make quick work of lowering and raising the wheel on your bandsaw.
Your blade changes will now become much easier to accomplish, hopefully motivating you to switch out blades to best match up with different cutting tasks in the shop.In addition, because removing and applying blade tension is so easy, the maintenance job to release blade tension for periods when the saw is not in use becomes a breeze.
The Acme threaded rod has fewer threads per inch than the OEM rod, so the Spinner moves the bandsaw wheel further with every revolution. The rod end that bears on the saw’s frame is ground with a conical point to reduce rotational friction, while the extra thick precision brass nut helps disperse stresses on the threads.
At 13-1/2″ long, the Acme rod positions the handwheel well clear of the upper wheel shroud of the saw, providing plenty of clearance to achieve a quick-paced spinning motion. The handwheel and crank handle are heavy cast iron with a chrome polish.
Please Note: The Spinner Bandsaw Tension Cranks are intended to fit older Delta/Rockwell 14″ and Jet 14″ saws WITHOUT a factory equipped quick release tension lever. They will fit onto saws that are equipped with the Carter Quick Release™ tension lever.
Iturra Design Spinner Retro-Fit Kit which comes with the additional Acme spacers needed to use these OEM tension adjusters. —>The Heavy Duty Bandsaw Tensioning Crank replaces the tension adjusting rod and knob on most 14″ bandsaws with a 5″ cast iron, chrome plated hand wheel crank. The large diameter handwheel, coupled with the 3/8″ acme threaded rod makes quick work of lowering and raising the wheel on your bandsaw when changing blades. The massive bronze replacement nut helps eliminate play in the threaded rod.
Please note that we do not have a list of the bandsaw models that the Heavy Duty Crank will fit. Compare the dimensions below against your current tensioner to decide if the Heavy Duty Crank will fit your bandsaw. This crank was designed for band saws without quick-release levers, though it may fit some with Q/R levers. Compare the particulars below with the rod and nut currently on your saw.
- Overall length of rod – 12″
- Threaded section of rod – 4″ long
- Rod diameter – 3/8″
- Thread size – 3/8″ acme thread
- End of rod is ground to a point
- 3/8″ acme threaded nut is a square nut measuring 23/32″ x 23/32″ x 19/32″ thick
Our customers inform us this crank fits fine on their Jet JWBS-12 12″ bandsaws.
