General Finishes Oil Base Stain

General Finishes Oil Base Wood Stains are what professional finishers choose because of their deep, rich colors, ease of application and overall quality. Made from the highest quality oils, resins, and pigments, these wiping stains penetrate deeply into the wood grain. They are compatible with most types of topcoats, including oil, water, and solvent-based finishes, varnishes and lacquers.

We offer General Finishes Oil Base Wood Stains in 14 different colors, and they can also be tinted to your own custom color using our Mixol Tints.

The stain can be applied using a wiping cloth, brush, applicator, or a sprayer. After stirring well, apply a generous amount of stain to the surface and allow several minutes for it to penetrate, then wipe off the excess stain evenly with a clean, dry cloth. To darken the color a second coat may be applied. Depending on conditions, drying time before top coating is 6to 72 hours.
