Adding a Japanese blade to a classic European Frame Saw design advocated by teachers like Tage Frid and Anthony Guidice is pure genius. The curved cheeks and handles are ergonomically made from quality hardwoods. The entire frame is beautifully sanded, oiled, and polished, and tension is applied through a stainless rod and thumbscrew. The assembled saw rests easily in the hand and feels much lighter than its appearance suggests.
Turbo-cut Blade
The heart and soul of this saw, though, is its Japanese style Turbo Cut blade. It’s impulse hardened, thinner than its western counterparts, and the tooth profile allows fast, clean cutting in any direction through wood with very little set. The saw comes with a 1-1/4″ wide x 12 tpi blade. Overall blade length is 27-9/16″ with a hole to hole measurement of 26-1/2″. The Classic 700 is 39″ long and 16″ tall, and will also accept any of the other 700 mm blades we offer. See therange of optional blades available for this saw. The distance from the bottom of the bridge to the teeth on the blade is 7-3/8″.
The impulse hardened teeth of this blade cannot be sharpened with saw files.
