Barr Chairmaker’s Drawknife
Designed with input from some of America’s premier chair builders, Barr’s drawknife helps you gain precise control of the cutting edge. Made from hand-forged tool steel, the 6-1/2″ cutting edge is hollow ground and comes honed and ready for use. The hardwood handles are 5-1/4" long and are angled out just slightly for 90° so you can keep your arms close to your body when cutting.
Handles are secured via cap nuts that screw on the ends of the full length threaded tangs. Weighs 1 lb. Overall length 13″.
The Standard Chairmaker’s Drawknife was designed in cooperation with Windsor chairmaker Curtis Buchanan. It has a 1/4″ by 1-1/4" blade with a 25° bevel. Since it is designed for use on a shave horse, the handles are bent up slightly. The hollow grind on the flat speeds sharpning.
The Slim Chairmaker’s Drawknife was designed for tight curves on chair seats. It has a 1/4″ by 7/8" blade with a 25° bevel. It has a sharp back bottom bevel to further facilitate tight cuts.
